SAO Company Profile Update: Thetus

See 1/06 SAO Thetus Profile

It’s been a whirlwind 2 years since the first Thetus profile first appeared in the SAO newsletter. First of all, we’ve grown. We are extremely pleased with the strategic additions to our product development team, as well as the investments we’ve made in building out our sales and marketing organization. And while our core focus on semantic knowledge modeling and discovery software has remained constant, the opportunities that have unfolded for Thetus have outpaced even our own considerable ambitions. Because our solution addresses a growing need for almost any enterprise or government office whose business depends on understanding vast quantities of disparate data, our leadership team has faced the wonderful challenge of focusing our attention on select markets where opportunities are greatest. That has led us to significant inroads (and customer wins) in the defense/intelligence, law enforcement, energy and environmental markets. To keep pace with the remarkable prospects before us, we are actively recruiting for a variety of positions.

Despite our growth, we happily remain in the same delightful Old Town location – we’re fortunate that the space has grown nicely with us. Indeed, our great affinity for the city of Portland has only increased with time, as it continues to prove to be an excellent area from which to draw and retain top talent. Perhaps most satisfying, the city itself – as part of its sharp focus on environment and sustainability issues – has proven to be a vital resource to us for a new application we’re developing that we feel has tremendous potential to help local governments gain an upper hand in their environmental management challenges.

From a technology standpoint, the past 2 years have seen many significant enhancements to our core product, Thetus Publisher. More than ever, Publisher reflects a blend of capabilities and ease of use that really sets it apart in the semantic knowledge space. We’ve accomplished a great deal in integrating our solution with third-party technologies upon which our customers depend – including text analytics providers and geographic information systems like ESRI and Microsoft Virtual Earth – and our hard work in expanding our product capabilities is being rewarded every day through new opportunities, new sales and technology partnerships, and satisfied customers. In all, we’re proud to report that we’re making great progress in our mission to help industry and government organizations discover “what they know” and convert that knowledge into solutions to their most challenging problems.
